Safety Belt Retractor — Second Row, Outboard, With Inflatable Shoulder Belt

Removal

 WARNING: All safety belt components must be inspected and corrected as part of any collision repair. Inspect all safety belt components as prescribed by Safety Belt Inspection and Repair After a Collision found in Section 501-20A General Procedures of this manual. Failure to follow this instruction may result in incorrect operation of the safety belt system and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.

  1. Remove the C-pillar trim panel. Refer to Section 501-05 .
  1. Position the second row seat to the E-Z entry position.

Installation

NOTE: During installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted and the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants.

  1. Reposition the second row seat.
  1. NOTICE: To avoid damage to the scuff plate trim panel, remove any retaining clips from the body and attach them to the scuff plate trim panel before installing.

    NOTICE: To avoid damage to the scuff plate trim panel, remove the S-clips from the scuff plate trim panel and attach them to the door flange in the notches.

  1. Install the C-pillar trim panel. Refer to Section 501-05 .
    1. NOTE: The secondary safety belt web loop must be positioned down to prevent twisting of the safety belt.

  1. NOTE: Make sure the pin is pushed all the way in and the spring clip is allowed to ride up on the shoulder of the pin.

  1. NOTE: If the pin is not pushed all the way in, the lower safety belt tongue cover will not close correctly.

  1. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. Refer to Safety Belt System .
