Coolant Inlet Pipe — 3.5L GTDI

Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to Section 100-02 .
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
  1. Remove the fuel rails. Refer to Section 303-04B .
  1. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Section 414-01 .
  1. Discard the specified component. Follow local disposal regulations.
  1. Discard the specified component. Follow local disposal regulations.

Installation

  1. NOTICE: Use Motorcraft® Orange Antifreeze/Coolant. Do not mix coolant types. Mixing coolant types degrades the coolant corrosion protection and may damage the engine or cooling system.

    Install a new O-ring seal.
    Apply the specified lubricant to the specified component.
    1. Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
  1. Install new sealing washers.
  1. Install the battery tray. Refer to Section 414-01 .
  1. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Section 303-01B .
  1. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
