Front Seats
The front seats can be equipped with the following systems:
Driver Seat Module (DSM) — Memory Seat
When the vehicle is equipped with the programmable/recall memory option, the power driver seat is controlled by the Driver Seat Module (DSM). The DSM is mounted to the bottom of the driver seat. The memory set switch is located in the driver door panel.
Easy Entry/Easy Exit
The memory driver seat easy entry/exit feature moves the seat slightly rearward for easier exit from the vehicle and returns the seat forward after entry. Refer to Principles of Operation in Seating in this section or the Owner's Literature.
Front Heated Seats (if equipped)
The heated seat system contains the following serviceable components:
A new heater mat will come already adhered to a new foam pad. Never reuse a heater mat or foam pad.
Climate Controlled Seat System (if equipped)
The system contains the following serviceable components:
The customer can select different climate control modes/preferences when the vehicle is started using the remote start feature. This can be accessed through the message center. For information on how to set the remote start preferences, refer to the Owner's Literature. When the driver seat and/or passenger seat is set to AUTO mode, the driver/passenger climate controlled seat activates in full heat mode when the outside temperature is less than 0°C (32°F) and full cool mode when outside temperature is greater than 27°C (80°F) any time the vehicle is started using the remote start feature. No climate controlled seat adjustments are recognized during remote start operation. When the ignition is cycled to the ON position after a remote start event, the climate controlled seat switches off.
Front Seat Track Motor
There are 3 front seat track motors present on power seat tracks. The horizontal (fore/aft) front seat track motor is the only seat track motor which can be serviced separately from the seat track assembly. All other seat track motors (front up/down, rear up/down) are serviced as part of the seat track assembly.
Front Seat Motor Cable
The horizontal (fore/aft) front seat track motor rotates 2 cables which drive each side of the seat track uniformly. The outboard (long) cable can be serviced separately from the horizontal front seat track motor.
Seat Side Air Bag
WARNING: Front seat backrest trim covers installed on seats equipped with seat side airbags cannot be repaired. A new trim cover must be installed. Cleaning is permissible. Failure to follow these instructions may result in the seat side airbag deploying incorrectly and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE: If a side air bag deployment took place, a new seat back pad, trim cover and side air bag module and nuts must be installed. A new seat back frame should be installed if necessary.
The driver and front passenger seat side air bags are standard equipment and attached to the seat backrest frame. If a seat side air bag deployment has occurred or for more information, refer to Section 501-20B .
Safety Belt Buckle Pretensioners
As part of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), the driver and front passenger seat safety belt buckles are equipped with pretensioners. The safety belt buckle pretensioner assemblies are attached to the seat tracks. The safety belt buckle pretensioners remove excess slack from the safety belt webbing and are activated by the Restraints Control Module (RCM) when the module detects a collision event force exceeding a programmed limit. For information or if a deployment has occurred, refer to the appropriate procedure in Section 501-20B .
Occupant Classification System (OCS) System
The OCS system is standard equipment on all front outboard passenger seats. For diagnosing or servicing the OCS system, refer to Section 501-20B .
Second Row Seating
There are 2 seating options for the second row:
Each configuration's backrests will recline and fold flat, using the recliner handle at the side of each seat. When the backrest is folded flat, release and pull up again on the recliner handle and the seat will tip forward to ease entry to the third row of seating (E-Z entry). All 40/40 seats have an adjustable seat track in place of the stationary riser and power-fold to the E-Z entry position. The 40/40 quad bucket seats can be equipped with an optional heated seat system.
40/40 Power-fold Seats
The power-fold seats have convenient power-fold seat control switches mounted in each rear quarter trim panel beside the seat backrest. When the power-fold seat control switch is depressed and held for a moment, an electro-mechanical motor releases that seat's recliners and latch feet, through a cable attachment. An assist spring in the backrest recliner folds the backrest to the fold-flat position and an assist spring and strut dampener lifts the seat to the E-Z entry position. The seat must be manually returned to the seating position.
40/40 Rear Heated Seats
The heated seat system contains the following serviceable components:
A new heater mat must always be installed on a new foam pad and a heater mat must never be reused.
Inflatable Safety Belts (if equipped)
The inflatable safety belt system uses a pyrotechnic device mounted below the seat to release an inert gas which deploys the inflatable shoulder belt. For diagnosing or servicing the inflatable safety belt system, refer to Section 501-20B .
Third Row Seating
The third row 50/50 split bench seat comes in 2 options, power or manually operated.
Each 50/50 split bench seat has the following independent features:
Refer to the Owner's Literature for seat operation.
For power seats, the seat control switch is located in the LH quarter trim panel and the Power-Fold Seat Module (PFSM) is mounted under the LH load floor flapper panel. The power seat only operates when the vehicle is in park and the liftgate is open. Power to the seat will time-out after 10 minutes but can be enabled by opening any door, turning the ignition on, pressing any keyless entry keypad button or the unlock button on the key fob.
