REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Seat Recliner — Inboard, Second Row, 60 Percent

Removal

 WARNING: Use care when the seat back frame is removed and when releasing the recliners from a backrest upright position. The recliners are spring-loaded, which may cause the recliner upper arms to fold with significant speed/force. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTE: For parts identification and location, refer to Seat — Exploded View, Second Row in this section.

  1. Remove the 60 percent seat from the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Seat — Second Row in this section.
  1. From under the seat, detach the 2 sets of cushion cover J-clips, 1 side retainer and separate the cushion cover from the lower anchor and tethers for children wires.
  1. NOTE: Typical cushion cover retainer shown, others similar.

    Detach the cushion cover retainers and pull them out from between the riser and cushion frame.
  1. Detach the cushion cover J-clip from the cushion frame.
  1. Remove the cushion foam pad and cover assembly.
  1. Remove the Right Hand (RH) riser inner and outer covers.
    1. Remove the 2 RH riser inner cover screws.
    1. Release the clips, separate and remove the RH riser inner cover from the RH outer riser cover.
    1. Remove the 3 screws and the RH outer riser cover.
  1. Cut the zip tie that retains the seat recliner cables to the seat cushion frame.
  1. Remove the safety belt anchor-to-inboard recliner bolt. Position the safety belt anchor out from behind the recliner.
  1. Detach the 2 backrest cover retainers at the bottom and 1 at the inboard side.
  1. Remove the 2 pin-type retainers, detach 2 retainers attached to the hardback panel and separate the hook-and-loop strips.
  1. Remove the armrest. For additional information, refer to Seat Armrest .
  1. Remove the inboard recliner RH cover.
  1. Remove the pin-type retainer and screw from the inboard recliner Left Hand (LH) cover.
  1. Remove the inboard recliner LH cover by sliding it back through the opening in the seat.
  1. Remove the clip and the recliner handle.
  1. Remove the outboard recliner cover.
  1. Pull the backrest cover back and loosen, but do not remove, the 2 outboard recliner-to-backrest bolts.
  1. Detach the inboard-to-outboard recliner cable end at the outboard recliner.
  1. Remove the 2 inboard recliner-to-backrest bolts.
  1. Remove the 3 inboard recliner-to-cushion frame bolts and the inboard recliner-to-cushion frame yoke bolt.
  1. NOTE: Note the routing of the recliner cables for installation.

    Remove the inboard recliner.

Installation

  1. Position the inboard recliner to the seat. Install but do not tighten the 3 inboard recliner-to-cushion frame bolts, the inboard recliner-to-cushion frame yoke bolt and the 2 inboard recliner-to-backrest bolts.
  1. NOTE: Before installation, make sure the safety belt is not twisted.

    Position the safety belt anchor to the recliner. Install but do not tighten the safety belt anchor-to-inboard recliner bolt.
  1. Tighten the 3 inboard recliner-to-riser bolts, the inboard recliner-to-cushion frame yoke bolt and the 2 inboard recliner-to-backrest frame bolts in the sequence shown.
  1. Tighten the safety belt anchor-to-inboard recliner bolt.
  1. Route the inboard-to-outboard recliner cable and attach the end at the outboard recliner.
  1. Tighten the 2 outboard recliner-to-backrest bolts.
  1. Install the outboard recliner cover and the recliner handle.
  1. Position the inboard recliner RH and LH covers and snap them together.
  1. Install the armrest. For additional information, refer to Seat Armrest .
  1. Reposition the backrest cover, install the 2 pin-type retainers, attach 2 retainers to the hardback panel and attach the hook-and-loop strips.
  1. Attach the 2 backrest cover retainers at the bottom and 1 at the inboard side.
  1. Bundle the recliner cables together and secure them to the cushion frame wire with a zip tie.
  1. Install the RH riser inner and outer covers.
    1. Position the RH outer riser cover and install the 3 screws.
    1. Attach the RH inner riser cover to the RH outer riser cover.
    1. Install the 2 RH inner riser cover screws.
  1. Position the cushion foam pad and cover assembly back on the cushion frame.
  1. Install the 60 percent seat into the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Seat — Second Row in this section.
